Sam and Zack founded SL FILMS officially in 2018 after years of collaborating on freelance projects all over the country. Both Portland natives, the two come from different but complementary backgrounds; Zack from advertising and Sam from videography. Sam established a name for himself in Portland as a prolific music video director since 2011 and is credited for establishing a strong video presence for the Portland hip-hop community. After moving into commercials for local favorites like Koi Fusion, Sam caught the attention of Zack who’s love for the Blazers and desire to work in media led him back to Portland after working in advertising and video in San Francisco.

The pair have established a unique aesthetic in a city full of oversized media companies by maintaining professional standards of production with a much smaller and focused team, while always pushing their creative limits. Visual perfectionists with a keen knowledge of storytelling both subtle and complex. Time and efficiency are at the forefront of all of their productions, yet it’s the style and execution that stand out in all of their work.
